Mealime is shutting down: how to keep your recipes, and where to go next

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026. Pro is free until then and will not renew. There is no export button, and your meal plans, grocery lists and favourites are deleted when it closes. Mealime is pointing people to Meals Hub, a recipe tool inside the Albertsons family of grocery apps (Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco and others).

If you shop at one of those stores, Meals Hub may be all you need. If you do not, here is how to keep what you liked and where to go next.

We make one of the apps on this page. Repimame is ours. It is the smallest name here and has no US ratings yet. For most Mealime users, one of the other apps below will be the better fit, and we say which.

Rating counts were read from the US App Store on 23 September 2026. What each app does comes from its own App Store listing. Mealime's features come from its listing and its own support pages.

First: save the recipes you like, before 21 October

Mealime's recipes are also published on its website, at mealime.com/recipes, and each recipe page carries the standard recipe data that import tools read. So any app that can import a recipe from a link can take them:

  1. Find the recipe on mealime.com (search for its name).
  2. Copy the page's address.
  3. Paste it into the app you are moving to.

We tried one on 23 September - a strawberry panzanella with chicken and feta. The title, photo, all 15 ingredients, all 14 steps and the serving size came across into Repimame. Paprika, Plan to Eat, ReciMe and Samsung Food all import from website links as well.

Two caveats. We could only check recipes that are on the public site. Pro-only recipes may not be there. And nothing guarantees the website stays up after the app closes, so do it this month.

What Mealime did that most replacements don't

Mealime was not really a recipe box. It was a meal-planning service: its own team wrote the recipes, and the app built your week from them. Before you pick a replacement, it helps to know which of these you will miss:

And a few things people complained about: servings came only in 2, 4 or 6, the week was a list rather than a calendar with breakfast, lunch and dinner, and adding your own recipes from the web was awkward.

If you want to keep being told what to cook

eMeals is the nearest thing to Mealime. It sends seven new recipes a week across 15 meal and diet plans, builds the grocery list as you pick, sorts it by where things are in the store, and connects to Walmart, Instacart, Kroger, Safeway and others for pickup or delivery.

Samsung Food has the biggest library - over 240,000 public recipes, filterable by 14 diets - and it is free to start. It also has Android and web apps, if your household is not all on iPhone.

Pick eMeals or Samsung Food if the reason you used Mealime was not having to decide.

If you want your own recipes in the plan

Paprika 3 costs $4.99 once. It imports from recipe websites, plans on daily, weekly or monthly calendars, saves favourite weeks as reusable menus, and its grocery list combines ingredients and sorts them by aisle - the Mealime feature people say they miss most.

Plan to Eat is built for planners: save from any site, TikTok, Instagram or Pinterest, put recipes on a planning calendar, and get a shopping list for the week. It is a subscription after a 14-day trial.

Pick Paprika if you want an aisle-sorted list and would rather pay once. Pick Plan to Eat if you plan a month at a time.

Repimame - if your recipes come from videos

This is ours. Repimame saves recipes from websites, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and photos, and turns cooking videos into written steps. Then:

A week of meals in Repimame, planned by breakfast, lunch and dinner
Our app. Each day is split into meals, and every dish is one of your own saved recipes.

What it does not do, compared with Mealime: it has no recipe library of its own, so it starts empty. There are no diet filters, no nutrition numbers, no aisle sorting and no grocery delivery. It is iPhone and iPad only for now.

About moving your favourites: right now, our first 100 members outside Japan get everything free, including unlimited imports. Create a free account and bring over as many Mealime recipes as you like.

Pick Repimame if you already cook from TikTok and Instagram and you want those recipes in your weekly plan. Do not pick it if you want the app to choose your meals, or you need nutrition numbers.

Which one should you get?

Whichever you choose, save the recipes you like from mealime.com before 21 October.
